Tonight, during our family devotional, we read Psalm 138:8 NLT. The verse says: The Lord will work out his plans for my life- for your faithful love , O Lord, endures forever. Don't abandon me, for you made me.
Our devotional ended with a couple of questions. I fell even more in love with my family tonight...
The question was: Name 3 goals you have for your future. What are your dreams?
Wade said, " I wanna be a football player, maybe a basketball player. I don't wanna be an old man! And I wanna take care of baby Rhinos at the zoo and be called a 'Rhino Sitter'. "
Sophie said, " I want to get married and never get divorced. I want to be a dance teacher. And I want to have a nice house for my kids to live in."
Luke said, " I want to be a pro football player. I want to be a husband and a dad. And I want to be a pastor."
Rylyn said, " I want to either be an interior designer or show and sell homes. I want to raise my own family. And I'd LOVE to adopt a child from Haiti, preferably Junior, the preschooler I sponsor."
I had written mine down without sharing it yet and when Rich said his, we had similiar ones. Basically some of the things we pray about together...
Rich said, " To show Jesus' love to others daily. For our kids to love and serve God. I want to teach my boys to be a good husband and dad and for my girls to pick good husbands. "
And I said, " I pray all my kids and their families follow God, to leave a legacy. I want to find my nitch in an area of ministry, I want God to use me to make an impact for Him... and lastly, I want my own cooking show, like Paula Deen (when I grow up) ;)

Our Fantastic 4
The Brashears Family was established in 1996. Rich and I were set up on a blind date in March 1994 and the rest, as they say, is history... After 15 yrs of marriage and 17 yrs together, I am so thankful God chose Rich to be my husband. We have wonderful parents and my sister who support us. We have friends and family we are so thankful for. And a church family we are blessed by.
It's funny how children born of the same parents can be so very different...
Rylyn Nicole, our oldest is 14 yrs old. And has started high school this year taking all advanced and honors classes. I remember being a freshman. It's mind boggling to have my child walk the same campus I did. She loves to sing and dance and has a natural talent for both but is incredibly modest about it. She says she would DIE without music ;) Photography and creative writing occupy most of her spare time. I stand amazed as I hear either from a distance or through others just how wise she really is. She does a great job living out her faith. Although I tell her, I hope she knows just how proud of her I am. She is a terrific daughter and big sister! Oh, and I have already arranged her marriage. As I always say, "You can never be too prepared" ;) Ry went to Haiti this year and fell in love with a little boy, around 3 years old. This trip touched her heart so impact-fully, she came home and prayed about how she can make a difference in little Jr's life. Within a couple of months, she was asked to become his sponsor so he could get an education, food and clothing. She knew that was God's plan for her. She is planning her second trip to Haiti during spring break 2012 to be reunited with Jr for a week :)
Luke Soren, is almost 12 yrs old. And he has started middle school this year in the advanced and pre- IB program. Luke is by far the coolest and sweetest guy ( He learns from the best ). He is just like his Dad. He is learning to play the guitar and is talking more and more about girls (pray for me please). I guess this is the age it all starts. He is a deep thinker and has been beating teens in our youth group in video games since he was 3 yrs old. He gets called Justin Beiber because of his hair, which he loathes ;) I haven't found a girl to match him up with in the future... sweet girls are hard to come by these days, so it seems. Luke loves telling others about Jesus. Evangelism is one of his gifts. I am instilling in him that being a gentleman will take him far in life. Luke has several great, high school and college guys who pour into his life on a regular basis. That leaves me thankful beyond words.
Sophie Reese, is 9 yrs old. And has just started 4th grade. She can use "the force" on you with her smile and dimples. Funny how she does that to the best of us. Because Sophie is strong willed and very much a leader, I either don't worry much about her or I WORRY BIG depending on the situation ( and her mood ) :) She has a heart for mothering anything from babies to elderly to animals. She wants to be just like her big sis when she grows up. Sophie loves taking pictures and making videos. She is thee loudest shower singer ever born. She has said she is going to marry our family friend, Phil Todd since she was 2. And 7 yrs later, she is still planning on being Mrs. Todd. My Soph is a girl after my own heart... gotta love her!
And last but not least, Wade Dixon ( aka "D" ) is 4 yrs old. He has just begun the VPK program and LOVES it! He is now a student, just like his siblings or his sibs ( as he would say ). I don't think D knows he is the youngest of 4 because he has the wisdom of a much older soul and for the most part, does the things they do. Nothing gets by this boy so we are all learning ( the hard way ) to watch our tongues, facial expressions and actions. Wade is our source of entertainment... He always has a story, song, dance or new milestone reached. I will soak up every moment and cherish them in my heart until puberty hits and I take a chance of him becoming more reserved. He thinks every guest who enters our home is there for his pleasure. He also thinks church has youth groups and services just for him ;) Wade also shares some phenomenal role models with Luke. What a blessing! He wakes up in the morning with a smile on his face and ends the day the same way :) I have the coolest kids, if I do say so myself
